386a41e606 feat(desktop): enable Electron migration path
Introduce the Electron desktop shell alongside the existing React renderer and local Bun server boundary. The migration keeps the DesktopHost contract explicit across Tauri, Electron, and browser runtimes while adding Electron main/preload services for dialogs, shell, notifications, updates, tray/window lifecycle, terminal, preview WebContentsView, app mode, and release/package validation.

The commit also carries the latest local main desktop command updates, including agent slash entries and hidden-by-default markdown thinking details, so the packaged Electron build matches the current main UX surface.

Constraint: React renderer, local Bun server, REST/WebSocket, and sidecar boundaries must remain reusable during the migration
Constraint: macOS dev packages are ad-hoc signed and cannot prove Developer ID notarization or Gatekeeper release launch
Rejected: Browser-only smoke validation | it cannot exercise native dialogs, keychain prompts, notification behavior, or packaged app startup

0ab624bff4 fix(desktop): remove hidden chat action hover strip #642
The previous fix moved the hover group onto the message shell, but the action row still occupied layout space while invisible. That invisible row kept expanding the shell hit area, so moving the pointer into the empty metadata strip could still reveal copy and timestamp controls.

Collapse the action row to zero height by default and expand it only while the message shell is hovered or focused. Keep message content spacing separate from the action row so hidden controls do not create a hover target.

Constraint: Copy/fork controls must remain reachable after the bubble reveals them.
Rejected: Use display:none for the action row | would remove the keyboard focus path entirely.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: narrow
Directive: Keep hidden message metadata rows out of normal hover hit-testing; do not reintroduce invisible layout space around chat bubbles.

8c5c2a0913 fix(desktop): narrow chat action hover area #642
Message actions were still tied to the full message row, so moving the pointer into blank space beside a short chat bubble kept copy and timestamp controls visible. Move the hover group onto the actual message shell and keep full-width behavior only for document-style assistant replies.

Constraint: Message actions still rely on group-hover and focus-within for pointer and keyboard access.
Rejected: Remove focus-within reveal | would regress keyboard users who tab to copy or fork controls.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: narrow
Directive: Keep normal bubble hover bounds tied to the message shell; document-layout replies intentionally remain full-width.

b483a9929d fix: reveal message actions with timestamps on hover (#642)
Message rows should stay visually quiet until the user needs copy or fork controls. The action row now appears on message hover/focus, uses icon-sized controls, and shows the message timestamp beside the actions with locale-aware recent and historical formats.

Constraint: Desktop chat actions already own copy and fork affordances, so the change keeps that surface instead of adding a separate always-visible timestamp row.
Rejected: Keep text-labeled Copy buttons | the row remained too visually heavy for every message.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: narrow
Directive: Keep copy, fork, and timestamp as one hover/focus metadata row unless the message layout is redesigned as a whole.

d9ebf4c2f1 feat(desktop): route assistant message links to in-app preview surfaces
Wire L1 link routing into assistant message rendering. AssistantMessage now
accepts an optional sessionId and, when present, builds an onLinkClick that runs
handlePreviewLink against the running local server base (getServerBaseUrl) and
the browser/workspace panel stores, preventing default on handled links.
MessageList passes sessionId through in the assistant_text case.

Adds getServerBaseUrl() to desktopRuntime as a synchronous wrapper over the api
client's cached getBaseUrl().

b8645b0122 perf(desktop): rework markdown cache and paint off-window spacers via content-visibility
Two issues remained on long transcripts. (1) The markdown parse cache was 48
entries / 1.8MB and keyed by full content string, so a 2.6MB session thrashed
constantly and every streaming chunk evicted finalized history entries because
each delta produced a new key. (2) The virtualization spacers above and below
the active window were single huge divs, leaving the WebView nothing to paint
during reconciliation and producing the literal blank gaps users were seeing.

The markdown cache now keys on `${len}:${fnv1a}` and splits into a 200-entry /
8MB finalized cache plus a small 4-entry streaming cache that cannot evict
finalized parses. AssistantMessage forwards a `streaming` flag (and stops
disabling caching entirely while streaming, so revisiting a settled turn no
longer reparses). The spacers are now broken into ~800px chunks via a
VirtualSpacer component; each chunk uses `content-visibility: auto` with a
`contain-intrinsic-size` pinned to its real height, which is the combination
that lets the WebView paint placeholder boxes even when off-screen paint is
deferred — without restoring the regression the previous content-visibility
rollout caused on in-window items.

Tested: 726/726 desktop vitest suites pass, including 3 new markdown-cache cases
and 1 new spacer-chunk + in-window-no-content-visibility regression guard

659c63e5ba perf(desktop): memoize chat row subtree to stop window-slide re-renders
When the virtualization window slid during scroll, every visible row reconciled
from scratch because the heavy chat-row subtree had no memo barriers, and
because renderTranscriptItem rebuilt fresh branchAction / toolResult object
literals each render that broke MessageBlock's existing memo.

Wraps AssistantMessage, UserMessage, ToolCallBlock, ToolCallGroup, ToolResultBlock,
and MarkdownRenderer in React.memo, and hoists the per-message branchAction and
toolResult lookups into useMemo'd Maps keyed by message id. Window slides now
keep referentially-stable props for unchanged rows, so reconciliation skips them
and only newly entering rows pay full render cost.

Tested: 722/722 desktop vitest suites pass

d116067d9c fix: virtualize long desktop transcripts
Large desktop sessions were still paying too much render and paint cost on tab switch, while the previous content-visibility approach could defer WebView painting enough to show white gaps during scroll. This moves long transcripts to a measured dynamic-height window, keeps small transcripts fully mounted, and caches completed Markdown parses so remounted assistant messages do not pay repeated parse cost.

Constraint: Tauri/WebView must not depend on content-visibility for transcript correctness because deferred offscreen paint can surface as blank regions

Rejected: Keep content-visibility:auto on every chat item | it improves synthetic DOM cost but matches the user's white-gap failure mode

Rejected: Fixed-height transcript virtualization | variable-height chat rows and tool groups can create spacer gaps and broken scroll positions

Confidence: high

Scope-risk: moderate

Directive: Do not reintroduce deferred-paint transcript optimization without testing the real Tauri/WebView scroll path on large sessions

8bd122c967 Keep message fork controls inline
Desktop transcript messages already expose copy controls in the shared action row. The fork affordance was rendered as its own zero-height hover row, which left the icon below Copy and made the action feel detached from the message toolbar. Moving the fork button into the existing action bar keeps the controls aligned while preserving the original branch-session API path.

Constraint: Desktop message actions should stay visually grouped for both user and assistant messages

Rejected: Keep a separate fork-only hover row | it reproduces the two-line layout regression shown in the desktop UI

Confidence: high

Scope-risk: narrow

Directive: Keep future per-message actions inside MessageActionBar unless they need a different interaction surface

bef9596ed5 Keep all assistant-side transcript content on one shared content rail
The desktop transcript had drifted into multiple competing left edges.
Assistant bubbles, thinking rows, tool cards, permissions, and standalone
results were using different offsets, which made the timeline feel visually
broken even when the underlying data was correct.

This change removes the ad hoc assistant-side indentation and makes the
assistant output lane follow the same content rail as the composer. The
assistant message component still distinguishes short bubble replies from
markdown-heavy document replies, but both now sit on the same shared left
alignment. Supporting chat blocks were updated to use that same rail so the
whole transcript reads as one coherent column.

Constraint: Assistant transcript content must align with the composer rail, not with local per-block offsets
Rejected: Keep tool/thinking blocks on a separate inset lane | creates multiple left edges and keeps the transcript visually inconsistent
Rejected: Fix only final assistant replies | leaves the rest of the assistant-side timeline misaligned
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: narrow
Reversibility: clean
Directive: Treat the composer rail as the canonical left edge for all assistant-side transcript blocks unless the entire transcript layout is redesigned together

70fb6c429e Keep desktop transcript and plugin controls readable after layout regressions
Two desktop surfaces regressed in ways that made the app harder to read and operate.
The plugin header compressed summary cards and action buttons too early for the available width,
and the rewind/copied affordances in chat were sharing the same horizontal lane as message bubbles,
which visually broke the expected "user on the right, assistant on the left" transcript structure.

This commit keeps both fixes narrow: the plugin header now delays its split layout and lets summary
cards and controls reflow responsively, while chat message actions live inside each message column so
interaction affordances no longer distort the bubble alignment.

Constraint: Desktop settings and transcript layouts must remain readable in narrower window widths
Rejected: Keep message actions inline with the bubble row | action buttons keep stretching the message lane and blur role alignment
Rejected: Hide rewind and copy entirely until a larger redesign | removes the control instead of fixing the regression
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: narrow
Reversibility: clean
Directive: Keep transcript actions inside the message column unless a future redesign also redefines bubble alignment rules
Tested: bun run test src/__tests__/pluginsSettings.test.tsx --run; bun run test src/components/chat/MessageList.test.tsx --run; bun run lint; bun run build; agent-browser verification against local mock desktop session

635a966c3e fix(desktop): unblock rollout with reliable session and IM flows
This folds together the desktop-side fixes needed before broader rollout.
Session resume no longer deadlocks waiting on init, Mermaid and inline image
output render inside chat, task and sub-agent state stay visible during
execution, local build/release paths are safer, and Feishu/Telegram now expose
lightweight mobile commands (/help, /status, /clear) without adding a new
adapter-specific protocol.

Constraint: Desktop releases must publish updater artifacts from non-draft GitHub releases
Constraint: IM commands need short, phone-friendly responses and low operational complexity
Rejected: Add a dedicated IM command API surface | re-used existing slash commands and session/task REST endpoints to keep adapters thin
Rejected: Wait for task_update push events in WebUI | added low-risk polling because the current frontend ignores that event path
Confidence: medium
Scope-risk: broad
Reversibility: clean

3c5290eec1 fix: reduce copy ambiguity in chat sessions
The session view exposed copy affordances in a way that implied the
whole conversation would be copied, while user prompts had no copy
path at all. This changes copy to a per-message footer action so the
scope is explicit for both prompts and assistant replies, and reuses
the shared clipboard helper instead of maintaining a second copy path.

Constraint: The worktree contains unrelated in-progress changes that must stay uncommitted
Rejected: Keep a floating action above each message | it interrupted reading order and still looked session-scoped
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: narrow
Reversibility: clean

993b96cd39 Stabilize the desktop transcript so long agent sessions stay readable
The desktop app now keeps the composer stable while turns are active,
reduces low-signal tool noise in the transcript, restores project context
under the composer after session creation, and relies on the CLI's own
permission requests instead of injecting broader desktop-side Bash asks.

This also brings in the supporting desktop app source tree and the server
routes/session metadata needed for git info, filesystem browsing, session
resume, slash commands, and SDK-backed permission bridging so the UI can
operate as a coherent feature instead of a partial patch.

Constraint: Desktop transcript needs to stay usable during long multi-tool sessions without hiding file-change diffs
Constraint: Permission prompts must mirror CLI behavior closely enough that read-only commands do not get desktop-only prompts
Rejected: Keep rendering Read/Bash bodies inline | too noisy and unlike the intended transcript model
Rejected: Commit only the touched desktop files | would leave the newly introduced desktop app incomplete in git history
Confidence: medium
Scope-risk: broad
Reversibility: messy
Directive: Treat non-writing tools as summary-first transcript events; do not re-expand them by default without validating the UX against long sessions
