Goal commands already had local CLI metadata, but desktop and SDK init consumers only received a name list. Keep the legacy slash_commands string array intact and add explicit metadata so clients can render descriptions and usage hints without breaking older readers.
Constraint: Existing SDK/system init consumers may depend on slash_commands staying string-only.
Rejected: Replace slash_commands with objects | would risk breaking older SDK and desktop consumers.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Keep slash_commands as the compatibility name list unless all SDK consumers have migrated.

This brings the desktop memory worktree onto local main after main advanced with opener, IM, zoom, and autonomous goal work. The conflict resolution keeps both the selected-chat reference imports and memory event settings entrypoint in MessageList, and keeps both open-targets and memory API routes in the server router.
Constraint: main and feat/desktop-memory-surface diverged across desktop chat and server routing.
Constraint: desktop Vitest runs src-tauri tests under Vitest, so the Tauri config test cannot import bun:test.
Rejected: Fast-forward merge | main carried newer local commits not present on the memory branch.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Keep chat selection references, memory cards, open-target routes, and memory routes together when touching these files.
Tested: bun run check:desktop
Tested: bun run check:server
Desktop users could not tell when project memory was being referenced or updated unless they opened raw tool details. This surfaces memory reads and writes as a dedicated chat activity, while keeping ordinary tool calls visible in mixed groups, and tightens the memory settings layout for faster project and file navigation.
Constraint: CLI memory currently arrives through system notifications and normal file tool calls rather than a dedicated memory tool.
Rejected: Hide memory file writes inside the existing file tool group | users need a distinct product signal for memory activity.
Rejected: Preserve the manual create-memory control | project memories are model-produced files and the user already asked to remove manual creation.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Keep non-memory tool calls on the normal rendering path when adding more memory activity signals.

The branch-level quality gate includes the memory context inspector changes, so this adds focused coverage for the loaded and empty memory-file states plus the Settings navigation side effect.
Constraint: Changed-line coverage must stay above the 90% PR threshold.
Rejected: Lower the coverage threshold | would hide a real gap in the memory context UI tests.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: narrow
Directive: Keep memory inspector navigation covered when changing /context memory file rendering.

Workspace and transcript selections now flow into the composer as lightweight references so users can carry exact snippets into the next prompt without file-only workarounds. The prompt formatter keeps workspace and chat excerpts separate, and the composer avoids sending chat snippets as fake file attachments.
Constraint: Selection references must prepare model context without polluting backend file attachment payloads.
Rejected: Reuse file attachments for chat selections | would leak chat:// pseudo paths into file-oriented payloads.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Keep chat-selection references prompt-only unless the backend gains a first-class chat context attachment type.
Tested: bun run check:desktop

The CLI already emits memory_saved events and stores Markdown memory files, but the desktop app had no usable surface for seeing or editing those writes. This adds a project memory API, a Settings memory editor, chat memory event cards, and routing from /memory or /context into the memory UI.
Constraint: Memory files live under Claude project storage and must remain plain Markdown editable by users.
Rejected: Only expose raw filesystem links | users need an in-app review and edit flow from chat.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Keep memory storage project-scoped and preserve unknown Markdown content when editing.

Desktop search results were visually misleading when many directories shared the same basename, because the UI emphasized the basename and the server ranking allowed deep basename matches to outrank direct path-prefix matches. This makes search rows show the insertable relative path and ranks direct path-prefix matches before unrelated same-name directories.
Constraint: Desktop @ file suggestions should match the CLI mental model for path search.
Rejected: Keep basename plus parent-path rows | it hides the distinction between src/, src/hooks/, and desktop/src in the primary text.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: narrow
Directive: Preserve path-prefix ranking ahead of basename-only matches for directory searches.

Desktop @ file search was recursively walking the filesystem with a local skip list, which let Python and Node generated directories leak into results and diverged from CLI behavior. Route candidate discovery through the same git-first model: tracked files, untracked files with exclude-standard, and ripgrep fallback for non-git folders, then derive selectable directories from those candidates.
Constraint: Desktop picker must select both files and directories without surfacing ignored project artifacts.
Constraint: No new dependencies; reuse the existing git, ripgrep, settings, and ignore utilities.
Rejected: Maintain a hardcoded directory denylist | it would drift from CLI and miss project-specific ignore rules.
Rejected: Full recursive readdir scanning | it ignores git index semantics and makes large dependency trees visible.

The pure white appearance option needed to avoid warm-theme leakage while preserving the existing warm classic brand theme. This adds the white theme mode, keeps local browser startup from reusing stale H5 server URLs in dev, and moves visible legacy warm surfaces onto theme tokens.
Constraint: H5 server auth policy, CORS policy, SDK routes, adapter routes, and IM access paths must not change for a visual theme fix
Rejected: Rename the original light theme to pure white | the original theme is a warm classic palette, not a neutral white workspace
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate

The desktop chat composer is a single mounted component under the active session view, so switching tabs reused the same local draft state. The fix keeps unsent composer input and attachments keyed by session tab and restores the matching draft when the active tab changes.
Constraint: Must preserve unsent drafts while isolating them per session tab
Rejected: Force-remount ChatInput with a React key | wider UI lifecycle change and more risk to composer substate

The mobile H5 shell was spending one row on the drawer button and another row on session metadata, which left less space for the actual chat on phones. The mobile shell now shares the drawer row with the active session title and metadata, while the session body suppresses its duplicate header on H5.
The mobile composer also restores horizontal breathing room and safe-area bottom padding so the input panel no longer sits flush against the viewport edge.
Constraint: Keep desktop/Tauri layout unchanged and scope the change to browser H5 mobile behavior.
Rejected: Keep the separate mobile menu row | it preserves the exact waste reported in phone screenshots.

H5 browser use needs to keep local desktop WebUI testing open while giving remote phones a usable chat-first surface. This change scopes browser auth by origin and target host, hides non-chat desktop chrome on H5 mobile, compacts the empty-session composer, and unifies mobile selectors behind a full-width bottom sheet with an explicit close action.
Constraint: Local browser development may bypass H5 auth only for loopback or private LAN server hosts; public or remote hosts still require an H5 token.
Constraint: Mobile H5 scope is chat-first; settings and scheduled-task surfaces stay hidden instead of fully redesigned.
Rejected: Reuse desktop popovers on mobile | hover/anchored dropdown behavior leaves key actions hard to dismiss and cramped on narrow screens.
Rejected: Let any localhost origin bypass remote auth | it would let arbitrary local pages access public H5 servers without a token.

The browser H5 surface now switches to a phone-oriented shell: the sidebar becomes a closed-by-default drawer, chat stays primary, workspace and terminal panels stay off the mobile chat surface, composer controls use larger touch targets, and mobile menus avoid desktop-only widths and keyboard hints. Desktop and Tauri sidebar behavior remain on the existing store-driven path.
Constraint: H5 is personal/team browser access layered on the existing desktop web UI, so the normal desktop app must keep its current layout behavior.

Bring the detached worktree fix into the local main line while preserving the newer main behavior that passes session context into interactive chat message blocks.
Constraint: Local main already contains six unpublished commits on top of origin/main
Constraint: Merge conflict only affected MessageList message rendering around sessionId propagation

Chat sessions need predictable navigation when users switch tabs or read history during streaming. This preserves each session's scroll position, defaults fresh sessions to the latest message, and adds a compact jump-to-latest affordance when auto-follow is paused.
The PR gate also exposed that provider-scoped scheduled tasks must force the sdk-cli entrypoint when launched through the sidecar, so the same change records that runtime contract and its regression assertion.
Constraint: Desktop chat should not force-scroll while the user is reading older messages
Constraint: Scheduled task provider env must not inherit stale parent model runtime values

Desktop question prompts can carry CLI-provided multiSelect flags, so the answer UI now stores selections per question as arrays and only allows multiple checked options when that flag is true. The message renderer also passes the owning session id into permission UI so pending responses go back to the session that produced the prompt instead of whichever tab is active.
Constraint: AskUserQuestion input may arrive as either questions[] or single question shape

The footer project chip previously kept showing only the source project and selected branch even after a session launched inside an isolated CLI worktree. That made an active worktree session look identical to a normal checkout, especially while agent tools were already operating under .claude/worktrees. The server now returns explicit worktree metadata from the session launch intent, and the desktop chip preserves the user-facing project and branch while appending the isolated worktree slug.
Constraint: CLI worktree branches are internal implementation details and should not replace the user-selected branch label.
Rejected: Show only the actual worktree git branch | it would expose worktree-desktop-* internals and make the business branch harder to read.
Confidence: high

The chat footer previously read git-info from the persisted session file and refreshed only on tab changes. Repository launches can update the active CLI cwd after the composer has already rendered, so the footer could keep showing an older selected branch even while the running model was operating in the correct checkout.
Constraint: The active CLI process is the source of truth for a live session cwd
Rejected: Derive the footer branch only from persisted session metadata | metadata can lag behind startup and does not prove the current running cwd

Desktop repository launches now defer isolated worktree creation until the
first user turn so the CLI owns worktree setup, cwd initialization, and
session metadata. The chat UI surfaces the pre-startup Git phase so users see
when a session is creating a worktree or switching a branch before model
output begins.
Constraint: Desktop must preserve the selected source checkout until a user actually sends a message
Constraint: CLI setup is the canonical owner for worktree creation and cwd initialization
Rejected: Create the worktree eagerly in the desktop session picker | it diverges from CLI session startup and creates worktrees before a conversation exists

Empty ActiveSession launch controls now use both loaded chat messages and persisted session messageCount, so historical sessions do not briefly fall back into new-session launch mode while message history is still loading. Regression coverage also locks the first-message branch launch flows for direct checkout and isolated worktree sessions.
Constraint: Historical session lists already know messageCount before chat history finishes loading

Online upgrades can strand users on stale desktop UI state or malformed local persistence. This adds a deny-by-default Doctor path that resets only regenerable desktop UI state, reports protected local files with redacted metadata, and keeps protected repair as a dry-run no-op until a reviewed backup-first flow exists.
Constraint: Chat transcripts, model/provider config, Skills, MCP, IM bindings, adapter sessions, OAuth tokens, plugins, and team/session records are user-owned protected state.

Constraint: Ordinary PR verification must stay non-live and runnable without provider credentials
Constraint: Coverage policy updates in this commit require maintainer approval before push/merge

Desktop context inspection could send get_context_usage while a prewarmed CLI process existed but before the SDK socket was connected. That first control request sat in the pending outbound queue and could time out, leaving the composer spinner or a misleading empty-state context display. The server now waits for the SDK socket before sending control requests, and the UI renders the actual initial context snapshot instead of masking empty active-session data.
Constraint: CLI /context and desktop get_context_usage must stay on the shared collectContextData/analyzeContextUsage path
Rejected: Hide zero-token active snapshots in the component | that masks backend timing bugs and prevents showing real initial system/tool context

A newly opened desktop session can return a live context snapshot before any
prompt content has been counted. When that snapshot is all zeroes, rendering it
as 0% makes the first real context update look like an unexplained jump. The
composer now keeps that empty live snapshot in the pending state while still
using its model metadata.
Constraint: Live context snapshots can be initialized before any user-visible context exists

The desktop composer now treats draft and not-yet-running sessions as pending
until a real CLI context snapshot exists. Context inspection has a lightweight
context-only path so the composer and /context panel do not wait on unrelated
usage or MCP status work, and desktop boot no longer blocks the first shell
render on tab restoration.
Constraint: Empty composer state has no live CLI context to inspect until a session starts

Provider model context windows now feed the composer-level context indicator, so users can see current usage without opening slash panels. The indicator refreshes when the session runtime model changes, keeps a stable loading placeholder, and marks estimate fallback data during reconnect or compaction windows.
Constraint: The desktop UI must use the real session inspection API and session-scoped runtime selection instead of mocked or static context values.
Rejected: Keep context details only in /context or /status | the user explicitly wanted an always-visible composer indicator.

The chat timeline lost per-turn changed file cards when the visible user message ids did not match persisted transcript ids, and sessions without SDK file-history snapshots had no fallback source for turn changes. Match live cards by stable user-message index when needed and derive checkpoint previews from transcript tool calls when snapshots are absent.
Constraint: Right-side workspace changes already derive from transcript tool calls, so chat checkpoint data must remain consistent with that source.

The desktop workspace panel and chat transcript were mixing project-level file state with per-turn session history, which made rewind, file attachment, and changed-file previews brittle across multi-turn and historical sessions. This keeps turn checkpoints durable in the transcript, makes workspace refreshes happen at the right lifecycle points, and hardens long file previews without blocking the UI.
Constraint: Right-side workspace changes are project working-tree state, while chat turn cards are session checkpoint state.
Rejected: Treat every changed-file panel entry as session-local | new sessions must still reveal existing dirty project files.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Do not couple global workspace status to session checkpoint cards without preserving both product meanings.

Not-tested: Packaged Tauri runtime smoke test
The chat surface now relies on the current-turn changes card for file rollback, so the older per-message hover rewind affordance was removed to avoid two competing rollback models.
Constraint: Current-turn undo still depends on the existing checkpoint rewind API.
Rejected: Keep both rewind entry points | duplicate rollback affordances make the product harder to explain and test.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Prefer adding rollback behavior through the current-turn change card instead of restoring per-message hover rewind.
Tested: bun test src/server/__tests__/sessions.test.ts

Tested: cd desktop && bun run build
Not-tested: Browser E2E scripts were updated but not executed in this commit.
The session workspace and current-turn undo surfaces now have regression coverage for multi-turn rollback semantics, stale current-turn cards, and dark theme workspace token usage.
Constraint: Workspace rollback must behave consistently for git and non-git session review flows.
Rejected: Rely on manual browser-only checks | they do not guard future regressions.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: narrow
Directive: Keep rollback tests focused on target user message identity, not only visible index position.

Not-tested: Full live multi-turn assistant generation E2E across a fresh temporary project.
Workspace inspection now shares the same diff renderer between chat change cards and panel previews, supports scoped preview-tab closing, confirms checkpoint undo, resolves rewind checkpoints from the prompt cwd, and removes light-only workspace chrome so dark theme remains coherent.
Constraint: Workspace review must keep working for existing transcript sessions and non-git session-derived changes.
Rejected: Keep a separate chat diff preview | it drifted from panel rendering and dark theme behavior.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Keep chat and workspace diff rendering shared so theme and truncation behavior do not diverge again.

Workspace inspection was visible only as a side panel, while file restore still lived behind the older per-message rewind affordance. This adds a chat-flow change card for the completed turn, keeps undo routed through checkpoint rewind, and tightens the workspace split layout so narrow and fullscreen windows keep both chat and file preview usable.
Constraint: Current session file changes must work for non-Git directories when transcript tool edits are available
Constraint: Workspace preview must remain right-docked without horizontal overflow across narrow and wide desktop viewports
Rejected: Keep only hover rewind | users could not clearly see what the current turn changed before undoing it
Rejected: Use Git as the only changed-file source | many desktop sessions run in temporary or non-Git directories
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Keep checkpoint rewind as the source of truth for undo semantics; workspace diffs are a preview surface, not the restore authority

Expose a workspace inspector for desktop sessions so users can browse the active project, preview files, inspect session-derived changes, and review diffs even when the work directory is not a git repository.
Constraint: The workspace view must work for temporary and non-git project directories.
Rejected: Rely only on git status | non-git sessions would lose the changed-files surface.
Confidence: medium
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Keep undo semantics separate from workspace browsing; checkpoint-backed rewind should remain the source of truth for rollback.

Session inspection was coupling quick status and usage rendering to live context control requests, so a slow get_context_usage path could leave the desktop inspector stuck on a loading state. The desktop panel now loads basic inspection data first, renders a transcript-based context estimate immediately, and only asks for live context details as a background refinement.
The translation hook now returns a stable function per locale so effects that depend on translation do not reset and re-fetch after every render.
Constraint: Third-party provider sessions may not expose reliable live context capabilities through the control request path.
Rejected: Keep waiting on live get_context_usage for the context tab | it recreates the user-visible loading stall.
Rejected: Hardcode provider-specific context windows | provider capabilities are not always known from the desktop session record.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Do not make the inspector first render depend on live CLI control requests without a transcript or cached fallback.
Tested: bun test src/server/__tests__/conversations.test.ts -t "structured session inspection|Sonnet 4.6 transcript usage"
Tested: cd desktop && bun run test -- --run src/i18n/index.test.tsx

Subagent transcripts are stored in sidecar JSONL files, so the desktop history loader now links completed Agent results back to their sidecar tool activity and namespaces child tool ids before rendering. The chat renderer then keeps parented tool calls and orphaned child results out of the root session stream, while the Agent result preview strips runtime metadata from the user-facing answer.
Constraint: Subagent tool activity may live under ~/.claude/projects/{project}/{session}/subagents instead of the main session JSONL
Rejected: Rely only on adjacent message ordering | interleaved messages can split parent and child tool activity
Rejected: Show final Agent output inside the expanded card | expanded cards should show process activity while the modal shows the final answer
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Do not remove child tool id namespacing without proving multiple subagents cannot emit colliding tool ids
Tested: bun test src/server/__tests__/sessions.test.ts
Tested: cd desktop && bun run test -- MessageList.test.tsx chatStore.test.ts
Tested: cd desktop && bun run lint

Not-tested: Live streaming of sidecar subagent tool activity before the sidecar file is persisted
The context tab needs both absolute token counts and percent-of-window values to stay scannable. Category rows now show the percent next to each token count, and the free-space summary card also reports remaining percent.
Constraint: Keep the compact terminal-inspired layout while restoring the numeric detail users rely on.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: narrow
Tested: cd desktop && bun run lint
Tested: git diff --check
Tested: agent-browser smoke test on http://127.0.0.1:2024/ for /context percentages
Not-tested: Packaged Tauri build.
Desktop slash commands now separate local UI panels from CLI turn execution. The session inspector exposes status, usage, and context data from the active session, including transcript and context fallbacks, so /status, /cost, and /context can render structured desktop UI instead of raw terminal text. The inspector and help surfaces now use the existing desktop i18n catalogs for English and Chinese labels.
Constraint: Desktop read-only slash commands must not spawn duplicate CLI processes or depend on submitting a normal user turn.
Rejected: Render raw CLI command text in chat | it keeps terminal-specific layout constraints and does not fit the desktop panel UX.
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Keep /status, /cost, and /context routed through the local inspector unless the CLI exposes a structured interactive command protocol.

Desktop rewind previously used the visible user-message index as the primary selector. That can drift from the persisted active chain when hidden or non-rendered user messages exist, so the API now prefers a stable user message id and checks the selected prompt text before mutating transcript or files.
Constraint: Desktop UI can hide transcript entries that still exist in the persisted session chain
Rejected: Keep index-only rewind | can target an earlier user message after UI/server chain drift
Confidence: high
Scope-risk: moderate
Directive: Do not remove targetUserMessageId or expectedContent guards without reproducing shifted visible-index sessions
